I must admit I have no idea what they are talking about 99% of the time. All I know is that they are talking about cancer, and I’m hoping there is progress in treatment.

It’s a film and upload day. Not a live broadcast. But the demand for attention is still high. This is especially tough as the crew and I had to setup for two to three hours starting at midnight, and then be on the ground standing by at 7am. Little sleep is had.

The kicker is that we had to tear down after the first day to accommodate a wedding reception in between. Then we come back at midnight once more to setup, and crew standby once more at 7am.

There is little we can do, other than just bite the bullet and book a room at the venue for the night. All for the price of over HKD2000 per night. Sorry, no other rooms available at such short notice in the vicinity.

ICM Banquet

International Care Ministries 2015 Banquet and Auction night – October 8, 2015

Last week, I had the privilege to live stream one of the most meaningful non-profit organizations in Hong Kong.

International Care Ministries (ICM) had humble beginnings that started in 1992 and has grown from supporting a few pastors to a ministry which today serves hundreds of thousands of the poor spanning the islands of Negros, Bohol, Panay, Palawan, Cebu and Mindanao.

The banquet and auction was a combination of a night of celebration and an opportunity to share ICM’s achievements this past year to their donors and supporters. They shared stories of their work and progress of helping the ultra poor of the Philippines, and encouraged attendees to continue to give to the organization as they did before, with auctions of vacation destination packages, art pieces, and many other items donated by generous people and organizations around the world. That evening ICM raised a grand total of HK$15.2m (US$1.m) including HK$4.3m (US$550k) of matching funds.
